Capt. Robin Leach is a full time fishing guide specializing in the Back Bays and Flats of the Charlotte Harbor Aquatic Preserve and the Peace River. So sad… Robin was transplanted from Walleye and Muskie fishing 20 years ago when his wife advised that she never wanted to see snow again.
Using light tackle Shimano rods and reels the primary focus is on Redfish, Snook, Tarpon, Trout and Cobia. But don’t discount the fun and challenge of catching one of the many other salt water species available in this area.
Shallow salt water back bay flats fishing is unlike any other. Stalking your prey in less than 3 feet of water on a grass flat or sand bar. Holding onto a 30+ inch aerial bound Snook or bulldozing Redfish with a light tackle rod while trying to keep it from running under the Mangroves for a cut off. Back bay fishing can be the thrill of a life time. Look out! A Trout, Snapper, Flounder, Pompano, Lady Fish, Sail Cat or Shark may be your next hookup so you have to be ready!
Some customers prefer the open water of the harbor with a little heavier tackle. Experience the thrill of a 100+# Tarpon as you “bow to the king” when it goes airborne and attempts to strip all of your line. Not far behind can also be the excitement of catching a willing Cobia, Mackerel, Drum, Jack, Shark or other species of fish that frequent the area through the year.
Not into fishing? You can also enjoy a personal Back Water Sightseeing Eco-Tour. Go exploring for local and exotic water Birds and sea-life such as Manatee, Sea Turtles, Dolphin, Alligators and so much more in the Aquatic Preserve. Stop off and explore an Out-Island Beach with shelling, swimming, a picnic and a walk in the Surf as you comb the beach for treasures.
Boaters new to the area will want to include a Charlotte Harbor Orientation tour as a part of their experience.
Getting Hungry or need a break? Stop for lunch at one of the remote exotic, rustic Restaurants on the water. Sample a “Cheeseburger in Paradise” at Cabbage Key, a “Super Grouper Sandwich” at the Nav-A-Gator Bar and Grill or a fine lunch at Porto Bello’s (formally Latitudes).
Location: Our 21′ Low Tide flats boat is conveniently located in Slip #E1 at the Laishley Park Municipal Marina
