Mark your calendars! The 35th Annual Freedom Swim will take place on Saturday, July 4, 2026, starting at 10:00 a.m. (swimmers’ discussion begins at 9:50 a.m.).
Event Route & Details
The swim starts at the north end of the southbound US 41 Bridge. Swimmers gather in the water offshore from the public beach and Riverwalk boardwalk on the northwest side of the northbound U.S. 41 Bridge.
Participants will paddle, swim, or float across the Peace River channel toward the landing site at Fishermen’s Village. The crossing is estimated to take between 40 minutes and 3 hours.
Important Information
- No trolley service this year
- No land access to the starting point — swimmers must arrive by boat
- No access from Sunseeker Resort
Safety & Spirit of the Event
This is intended to be a fun “happening” rather than a competitive race. Numerous escort vessels will support swimmers across the river. Every swimmer is responsible for their own safety and support team.
? Tip: Swim with a buddy — it’s safer and more fun!
Various governmental agencies will be on the water, and all vessels must operate at idle speed in the Peace River Channel from the U.S. 41 Bridge to Marker Number 2 while swimmers are in the channel.
Boating Safety Reminder
Boating Safety is NOT an Accident.
