A Weekend with Dr. Carrie Demers: Ayurveda & Bone Health

Date & Time:

January 17 @ 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Friday: Holistic Wellness: An Introduction to Ayurveda

In Sanskrit, the language of yoga, Ayurveda means science of life. This ancient medical system from India, often called the “sister science” of yoga, focuses on working with each person’s unique make-up to support balanced health and wellness.

This first workshop in a two-part series, led by Dr. Carrie Demers, offers an in-depth introduction to the fundamental principles of Ayurveda, including the five elements, doshas, prakriti (natural constitution), and vikriti (current state of imbalance). Through guided self-assessment, you’ll uncover your unique constitution and explore how to apply Ayurveda’s time-tested wisdom to bring balance and harmony into your daily life.

Join us and discover ways to live in sync with your body’s natural tendencies, promoting a life of health, vitality, and ease.

Saturday: Aging Well: Taking Care of Our Bones & Joints with Integrative Medicine

Conventional medicine often paints a picture of bones as hard, crumbling cement, slowly deteriorating over time. But this is not so! Bones and joints are live, dynamic tissues that respond to both stress and support. Join beloved guest teacher, Dr. Carrie Demers, and learn how to promote bone and joint health through the wisdom of Ayurveda, intentional lifestyle changes, yoga, and natural remedies. If your bones or joints are already compromised, this workshop will provide practical tools to start the healing process and prevent further damage. You’ll discover how to use asana and mindful movement to strengthen bones, support joints, and reclaim safe range of motion.

Topics to be explored:
· Anatomy of joints and bone
· Pathology of arthritis, both osteo and rheumatoid, and osteoporosis
· How to work with diet, supplements, exercise and stress management to nourish and heal bones and connective tissue
· How to reclaim and sustain range of movement and work safely with resistance and pain

· How to develop a home practice and management plan

This workshop is ideal for yoga teachers, Ayurvedic specialists, and anyone looking to improve their joint and bone health.
