The Charlotte County Airport Authority has voted to rename the airport the Punta Gorda Airport.
Welcome to Punta Gorda Airport!
The Punta Gorda Airport is conveniently located close to I-75 and US 41on the Southwest coast of Florida halfway between Sarasota to the north, and Ft. Myers to the south.
Because of the airport’s location and size, the airport has attracted several low cost carriers.
The low cost of flying, ease of getting to the airport, fast check-in times and convenient parking with low rates has made the Punta Gorda Airport a great alternative to the busy airports to the north and south.
The Airlines offer both non-stop and direct flights.
The Punta Gorda Airport was built as a training base for WWII pilots in the 1940’s.
For many years the airport served the general aviation and corporate aircraft community.
The Airport had commercial airline service from 1977 until 1985.
In 2007 the Bailey Terminal, named after seven brothers from Punta Gorda that all served in the United States military, was built and commercial airline service was reinstated.
Hundreds of thousands travelers have passed through the Bailey Terminal since its opening.
