The entertainment for the March meeting is Andy Mauck, “The Lightfoot Guy” as he is known around Punta Gorda. Andy met Gordon Lightfoot in 1976 and his friendship with him and the band members grew over the years. After “Gord’s” death in 2023 the band members asked Andy to join the band as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist.
Together, they have been keeping Lightfoot’s music alive, playing hits such as Sundown, If You Could Read My Mind, Carefree Highway, The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald and the rest of Lightfoot’s impactful tunes. Join us at the March phlocking for a memorable evening as Andy shares stories and the music of the legend that shaped his musical career.
This month we’re supporting Caring for Kids, a program led by the Kiwanis Club of Punta Gorda. For over a decade, Kiwanis has helped Charlotte County students by providing essential items like socks, underwear, and personal hygiene products — simple things many children go without, but that make a big difference in comfort, confidence, and readiness for school.
? Please bring new, packaged socks, underwear, or hygiene items to the meeting and drop them in the collection box. Every donation helps Kiwanis get these items directly into the hands of local students who need them most.
In addition to our March charity drive, we also continue collecting non-perishable food items for the local food pantry.
These monthly donations truly make a difference, and the need continues year-round. If you’re attending the Phlocking, please consider bringing a few pantry items along with your other donations.
