In the past month, our nation has been shaken by protests against systemic racism and police brutality against African Americans. If you are feeling like you are just coming into realization about the lives of African Americans in this country and wondering how you can be part of the solution to our nation’s racial healing, please join us.
Co-facilitated by Dr. Martha Bireda, executive director of Blanchard House Museum and Jennifer French, owner of The Yoga Sanctuary, Sister to Sister: A Conversation on Race is a four-week workshop designed to have participants engage in open and thoughtful conversations regarding the issue of race and racism in America.
Our conversations will explore:
• How and why America became a race-based society.
• How racist beliefs were/are reinforced and perpetuated in the collective American mind.
• How individuals can transcend racist socialization and conditioning.
Each session will begin and end with a grounding and unifying meditation. Because history is so often distorted, we will then explore relevant “Moments in History,” followed by a facilitated dialogue, time for questions, and personal reflection. This workshop is open to all!
Please note: This is an ONLINE event. In order to allow for a full and open dialogue this event is limited to 20 people.
50% of the event’s proceeds will be going to support the youth programs offered by Cooper Street Recreation Center. For more information about this event please contact email@example.com or call 941.505.YOGA (9642).
