Chanting aloud through call and response is the traditional method of transferring yogic wisdom through the ages. You may have experienced this practice as sometimes vigorous and energizing, and other times, prayerful and calming. But did you know that chanting can also be used as a means of guiding the breath and meditation? As examples, using a simple chant to lengthen the exhalation becomes pranayama, and silent chanting or chanting with hand movements become beautiful forms of meditation.
In this online workshop, we will use several simple and lovely chants to explore this idea. The practice will include chanting aloud, silent chanting with guided pranayama, silent chanting as meditation, and chanting aloud and silently with meditative hand movements.
