2019 WALK FOR THE POOR – County District, The Society of St. Vincent de Paul #PuntaGorda
Poverty in Charlotte County continues. This year it has been compounded by the economic effects of hurricanes and the red tide bloom. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul exists solely to assist those in need with financial, material, and educational assistance. The proceeds from the 2019 Walk for the Poor will assist those in need and fund the “Bridges out of Poverty” program.
To date, “Bridges out of Poverty” has enabled 36 successful participants on the 22-week road to move ahead and build their way out of poverty. Our proud graduates grow in self-esteem and hope as they implement their own action plan to break the cycle of poverty for their family.
Each year, the four Conferences of St. Vincent de Paul in Charlotte County host a Walk for the Poor to raise funds and to increase awareness of the less fortunate in our community. As an all-volunteer 501 (c)(3) charitable organization, we rely totally on the support of donations from individual and organizational donors like you! Every penny raised remains in Charlotte County.
We extend this invitation to you to join us at the Laishley Park Pavilion in Punta Gorda on Saturday, February 16th, 2019 for the tenth anniversary Walk for The Poor!
The Walk will begin at 9:00am (registration at 8:00am) and proceed across the northbound U.S.41 bridge walkway. You may also simply come and cheer us on! ALL are welcome!! Together, we can reach our goals!
